INDIAN HEALTH INITIATIVE
Nanakpur, Haryana
a rural community in northern India, is the quintessential village where our research initiatives began.

We aim to target barriers to surgical care through the implementation of the
All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS)
first responders course in addition to advocating
for Nanakpur’s community health workers, and collaborating with the local government in Haryana.
Our activities include:

-
Surgical & Trauma Capacity Assessments
-
AIIMS First Responders Course
-
Menstrual Hygiene Awareness
Our ReSEARCH
In 2015, we conducted the Surgeons Overseas Assessment of Surgical Need (SOSAS) in Nanakpur to determine the burden of surgical disease.
We also conducted the Personnel, Infrastructure, Personnel, Equipment, and Supplies (PIPES) survey at local health facilities to understand which surgical resources are available to the population.
